Seasonal and temporal variation in the effects of forest thinning on headwater stream benthic organisms in coastal British Columbia

چکیده
Removal of riparian trees can alter aquatic ecosystem structure and function by influencing factors such as light availability, sediment input, stream temperature. Contemporary forest practices variable retention harvest are used to mitigate the effects clear-cut on communities, but few studies have examined these techniques ecosystems. We light, temperature, biofilm biomass macroinvertebrate consumers in three coastal headwater streams British Columbia, Canada compared them nearby reference with unlogged stands. Variable increased temperature variability. Harvested catchments had higher all seasons except winter invertebrate abundance summer. altered community composition, largely driven increasing Chironomidae decreasing Simuliidae abundance. In conclusion, we found that modified benthic responses varied seasonally among taxa. This is one investigate impacts multiple trophic levels over years. Understanding cascading multi-year time scales important for management decisions.

on translation of politeness strategies in dialogues involving female characters in translations and retranslations of novels translated before and after the islamic revolution of iran and their effects on the image of women: a polysystem theory approach
abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...
Nitrification rates in a headwater stream: influences of seasonal variation
Nitrification, the chemoautotrophic process by which NH4-N is converted to NO,-N, is an integral biogeochemical transformation in stream ecosystems. Previous research has shown that experimental addition of dissolved organic C inhibits rates of nitrification, and that NH4-N addition stimulates rates of nitrification. In many streams, large amounts of C and N may be present in particulate and so...

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...
